Spring Daytimers/Prime Timers Trip

Starts:     Apr 23, 2015 @ 8:15 a.m.   Ends:     Apr 23, 2015 @ 6 p.m.

The Spring Daytimers/Prime Timers trip will feature one of the group’s most popular destinations – New Orleans. The first stop will be The Cabildo State Museum to view the new exhibit of the Battle of New Orleans. This battle and its results have recently been widely publicized in the news media recently. The exhibit features many artifacts of this important event in United States and Louisiana history.

Lunch will be at the Court of Two Sisters, featuring their Jazz Brunch.

The next stop will be Whitney Plantation in Wallace, LA, which opened its doors to visitors this past December for the first time in its 262 year history as the only plantation museum in Louisiana with a focus on slavery. Its owner, John Cummings, has received quite a bit of publicity for this approach.

Two highly recommended websites are: The Whitney Plantation website – and an article from the New York Times –
