Newcomers and Guests

Welcoming Ministry

Guests at our Sunday morning worship services are welcomed by volunteer Hosts. Hosts are available before and after services to answer questions and direct guests to coffee time.

Newcomer Gatherings

Recent guests and new members are invited to join church staff and other St. John’s members for an informal Newcomer Gathering. The purpose is to get to know each other better and share information about St. John’s. These events are scheduled throughout the year.

Pastors' Class

  • Want to connect with our church at a deeper level?
  • Not currently participating in a Sunday school class?
  • Have we got an opportunity for you!

This class functions as a connecting point for newcomers and new members to learn more about Wesleyan theology and social justice issues. The class will rotate every 12 weeks to offer newcomers an opportunity to join in existing Sunday school classes or begin a new small group for fellowship and discipleship. For more information contact the church office.

St. John's 101

This three-week course is designed for those are considering making St. John’s their church home or have recently become members of our congregation. During the class, participants will learn more about The United Methodist Church and this congregation, get to know the pastors and church members, and experience a relaxed environment for learning and asking questions. Discussion will center on the Christian Faith, our United Methodist heritage and theological beliefs, and the history and ministry of St. John’s UMC. Participants will encounter a comfortable space for questions and learn about the many ways to participate in the life of St. John’s.

If you are interested in joining the next 101 group, please contact the church office.

  Be Welcomed. Be Loved.

We are a Christian community called to share our gifts through worship, witness and service so that others will know God and become disciples of Jesus Christ.
