"...for we walk by faith, not by sight."
-2 Corinthians 5:7 (NRSV)

Message from Jay and Danielle

September 2015

Dear St. John’s Family,

As companions on the journey of faith in Christ, we benefit by walking together. Thank you for serving as faithful followers. The path we travel takes many turns - some challenging, some joy-filled. Perhaps some of us have traveled as St. John’s family since our church began in 1961. Many others of us have joined the journey more recently. No matter the length of time we have walked, God is our constant guide who offers us strength and peace. Since we walk by faith not by sight, we trust that the Holy Spirit leads us one step at a time.

Let us take this step together. To enter into an exciting time of growth for St. John’s. To make disciples for Christ’s work in our community. To feed people more effectively and to witness with courage. “The Walk” now leads us to use our resources in a bold way.

As we renovate our campus, the challenge rises. We face an uphill climb. As a Spirit-filled church family, we are encouraged by God to step forward. Together we will journey into an opportunity to glorify God: to walk by faith not by sight.

Would you consider these 5 steps?

  1. Pray for God to be glorified through our building.
  2. Be present to Christ and our church in this season.
  3. Serve each other in the way of Jesus.
  4. Witness the love of God to our neighborhood.
  5. And give gifts that reflect God’s generosity.
Can you imagine what will happen as we all walk together in faith and witness boldly for the glory of Jesus Christ?

The Rev. Jay C. Hogewood, PhD, (then) senior pastor, and Danielle Blackwood, chairman of The Walk

  Be Welcomed. Be Loved.

We are a Christian community called to share our gifts through worship, witness and service so that others will know God and become disciples of Jesus Christ.
