Music Ministry

Our music ministry looks different during COVID-19. You can read information about regathering on our COVID-19 page.

Ensembles

All of our ensembles operate on a volunteer basis only. We strive to make each gathering of these groups a loving and supportive experience for every musician.

We encourage any visitor or member to become involved in our music program regardless of musical experience or abilities. You can contribute to our rehearsals and services just by your presence!

Those who are unable to offer their talents on a regular basis are invited to contribute whenever they can.

For those who wish to offer their abilities in a non-musical way, please contact the music director. Help is always welcomed!

Alpha Bells

The second of our two bell choirs at St. John’s, Alpha Bells, is meant for beginners or new comers to bells. This ensemble, consists of adults and young adults who are interested in learning to play handbells, but are not comfortable yet with their musical skills. The repertoire for this group is easy and usually familiar with the purpose of rehearsals being to educate players. Alpha Bells is an ideal ensemble for those who wish to learn to read music. It is led by Daphne Grady, and performs on an infrequent basis.

Rehearsals are in the sanctuary, Wednesdays, 7 – 8:30 p.m.

Praise Team & Early Bird Choir

A small ensemble that leads the worship and music for the 8:30 a.m. services. The group meets at 7:45 a.m. to rehearse the music for that Sunday. The music is typically more contemporary and lends itself to a popular style of singing. Singers of various ages are encouraged to participate in this group provided they are comfortable learning music at a fast pace.
