St. John’s Youth Ministry is committed to providing a strong Christian environment for learning, growth and fellowship. We have numerous ways for youth to get connected at St John’s, including an annual Youth Sunday where youth lead worship. Youth are also involved in missions.
United Methodist Youth
St. John’s United Methodist Youth (UMY) is an active youth group for sixth through twelfth graders with many activities throughout the year. Youth are able to dive deeper into our faith through mission trips and weekly activities in which we learn more about God and are in fellowship with each other.
UMY meets Sunday evenings from 4 – 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Meetings vary from week to week but include dinner, fellowship, games and a lesson. Our lessons might include hands-on activities, a movie clip, media or diving into Scripture. Our goal is to strengthen friendships and our relationship with Christ and HAVE FUN!
Our Confirmation class is open to any student who desires to know more about the basics of Christian faith as well as specifics about being a United Methodist. You can confirm more than once in a lifetime. Each confirmand is paired with an adult mentor from the church who helps guide them through the process by being available to answer questions and just being present during the year.
As a class we have a weekly class on Sunday afternoons. We also experience a variety of worship services, join in mission and have an overnight retreat.
Youth Sunday School
Youth meet for Sunday school every week at 9:45 a.m. The classes provide a time for students to meet with their own age group to share in a short lesson followed by discussion. The classes are designed to help youth learn about Christ and grow in faith.
- Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School students (grades 9-12) meet in room 207 in the Administration building
